Solar Photovoltaic Systems

Solar photovoltaic systems, or PV Electric systems convert sunlight into energy that we can use in our homes. They are maintenance free, extremely reliable and have an estimated lifetime of more than 40 years. PV Systems are made in a range of sizes and can fit into almost any home or business. Most PV Systems are connected directly to the energy grid, so the energy can be sold back to the energy provider during the daytime. Alternatively PV Systems can use batteries to store energy, which can be ideal in rural areas.

Solar Hot Water

The most efficient hot water available is from evacuated glass tube systems. They are 80% more efficient than electric hot water systems and more efficient than flat plate solar systems. Designed and manufactured in Australia for Australian conditions evacuated tube hot water systems can reduce greenhouse gases and energy bills.

Green Ecovations recommend a 'split system' using a sleek solar collector on your roof and a highly-insulated storage tank at ground level. Ideally facing north, they can also be extremely efficient facing east or west. Evacuated glass tubes cannot freeze and do not contain toxic glycols to prevent them freezing or bursting as do some other systems.

Green Ecovations also offers a Electric Boosted Solar Hot Water System or a Gas Boosted Solar Hot Water System.

Heat Pump Hot Water

Siddons Solarstream

The Siddons Solarstream was developed to make energy efficient hot water. It can operate at night using cheaper off peak electrical power, save up to 70% of electrical power and remain very quiet while operating.

The Solarstream is a third generation design and very much the result of an evolutionary development. The Solarstream combines the strength of stainless steel with the convenience of a pre-charged split configuration. It is quiet, efficient in cold weather and convenient to install.

The water tank also features a new patented 'direct heat transfer' heating method, which has increased heat transfer efficiency.

Insulation

Air-Cell Insulation

A lightweight, fibre-free, non-allergenic insulation for ceilings and walls, designed to replace conventional batts. It combines the technology of reflective air spaces with a low-emittance, sealed air conduction barrier.

Ideal for hot and cold weather.

Efficient Lighting

Compact Fluorescent Lamps

Compact Fluorescent Lamps use up to 80% less energy than the equivalent incandescent lamp and last 6 times longer, saving up to half a ton of greenhouse gas. Average life 6,000 hours, or 5/6 years of typical use.

It comes in warm white which is the same colour spectrum as the incandescent lamps we are used to. Cool white and daylight coloured lamps are usually used in commercial properties for a whiter light.

Compact Fluorescent Lamps are available from 8 watt to 20 watt and also available as dimmable.

LED Halogen replacement lamps

These energy-efficient 3W LED downlights replace energy-guzzling halogen downlights (which typically use 25-50W). As long as your existing transformer is 12 watts, these warm white LED lamps can directly replace halogens, reducing lighting costs by up to 90 per cent.

Remember: low-voltage doesn't mean low energy use - it's the wattage that matters.

Orion 3W LED Downlight

The Orion 3W LED Downlight is an ultra bright replacement for energy hungry halogen downlights. It fits into the same low voltage MR16 fittings as a standard 50W low voltage, dichroic halogen but uses 94% less power and produces 98% less heat.

The direct beam brightness is similar to a 50W halogen although the light doesn't spread quite as much. Available in warm and cool white.

They are also available in 6 watt Dimmable LED.

Rainwater Tanks

Free water from the sky, why not catch it and store it? At more than a dollar per kilolitre it makes sense to use this water as much as we can. From watering the lawns and gardens to flushing the toilet and washing clothes, rainwater can be used all around the house.

Our Rainwater Tanks come in all shapes and sizes that can fit into almost any property. From slimline under eve tanks which hold 250 litres, metal and poly tanks, to under floor bladders and large circular tanks which hold 40,000 litres. All tanks come in many colours and finishes enabling a better blend into the surroundings. If you are considering a tank for your home or business, we can advise you on the best type to fit your water use.

Greywater Systems

This greywater diverter filters the greywater from your home - including shower, bath, dishwasher, washing machine - and pumps it into your garden.

It comes with a 20-metre outlet hose, which can be connected to a watering system. A built in pump automatically activates whenever water is diverted into the system.

Showers and Aerators

Approximately 25% of the water we use in our home is from showering. Almost 40% of the energy we use is from hot water and most of the hot water we use is in the shower. So saving water in the shower and the kitchen and bathroom taps not only saves water but also reduces greenhouse gases and energy costs.

Our efficient showers provide a wide powerful full shower with a built in massager which uses only 9.5 litres per minute (typical showers can use 20 litres per minute). Replacing the shower head is the most cost effective way to reduce greenhouse gases along with energy and water costs. The Siroflex Kitchen Aerator is a double action swivel shower, perfect for kitchen rinsing while saving water.
